The Spirit of Amalek

EX 17:10 Joshua did as Moses told him and went out to fight the Amalekites. Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hands, Israel overcame: but when he let down his hand, Amalek expired.

Amalek (Heb. {Amalek, “militant” or “people licking”).
1. Son of Eliphaz and Timna, the concubine of Eliphaz, so grandson of Esau (Gen. 36:12,
16, 1 Cr 1:36). The word is also often used as a collective, and
* then it means Amalekites (Ex. 17:8; Nm. 13:29; etc..).
2. Monte (Judges 12:15) Amalekite territory in the Negev; unidentified.
3. City (1 Samuel 15:5)

AARON (אַהֲרֹן Hebrew word meaning father of martyrs, possibly related to the Egyptian “Aha Rw”, “Leon Guerrero”) was a Levite priest, brother of Moses and first high priest of the Jews.

HUR heb. Hur, “whiteness”

EX 17:8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

Amalek is a spirit that impedes the progress THE PEOPLE OF GOD

1S 15:2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish what Amalek did to Israel, cutting off the road when he came up from Egypt.

DT 25:17 “Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when you came out of Egypt, 18 how he met thee by the way, and without any fear of God, I smote the hindmost of all that were feeble behind you, when you were tired and weak. 19 Therefore when the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven: no forget.

A espírtu Amalek is attacking the rear, in weakness and in tiredness

9 And Moses said to Joshua:
– Choose some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.
10 So Joshua did as Moses told him and went out to fight the Amalekites. Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hands, Israel overcame: but when he let down his hand, Amalek expired.

THE battle against Amalek is a battle of perseverance and fortitude

12 As Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him. Moses sat on it, while Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and the other on the other, and his hands remained steady until the sun set. 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the sword.

MOSES AND THE Joshuas focus on three different dimensions:
LIFE OF EACH indivual

MINISTERS: interceding are at the top, running the strategy and commanding the battle.
CHURCH: It’s the ultimate executor of God’s command
PERSONAL LIFE: It gives the constant battle against Amalek

14 Then the Lord said to Moses:
– Write this to be remembered in a book, and Joshua to blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.
15 And Moses built an altar, which he named Jehovah nisi, 16 saying, “Because the hand of Amalek is against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

God’s command is to erase the memory of Amalek in every aspect

1S 15:7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilag way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. 8 He captured Agag, king of Amalek, and all the people killed by the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves, the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy, but utterly destroyed all that was vile and despicable .
10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel
11 “I regret having made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not performed my commandments.”
Samuel was angry and cried out to the LORD all night.

BUT ENTIRELY defeated Amalek, Amalek NOS U.S. defeat.

2S 1:6 Young gave him the news responded:
– Coincidentally I went to Mount Gilboa, and found that Saul leaned upon his spear; behind him came chariots and horsemen. 7 He turned to me and called me, I said, “Here I am”. 8 I asked: “Who are you?”. I replied: “I am an Amalekite.” 9 Then I said, “Please stay away and kill me, because it has seized me anxiety, because I’m still alive.” 10 I then I went and killed him, because he knew he could not live after his fall. I took the crown that was on his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here to my lord.
